Trying to Stay Cool, LA? Here Are Five Things You Can Do This Weekend

This weekend I’m keeping it cool. Literally. Any place that has central air is where I’m going to be. The air conditioning in my apartment has been busted and of course it’s during some of the most humid days we’ve had all summer. I actually looked forward to going to work all week just because I knew there would be air conditioning. I mean, I love my job.

Thought of the week: how long do you need to live in LA to claim you’re an LA brat? It started raining as I was heading out to my car the other day and I actually called my friend to ask if he thought it would be safe to drive in. When you start to become the very person you ridiculed upon arriving in La-la-land it might be time to claim your Angeleno status. Or at least start filling out the paperwork.

Here are some cool things to check out this weekend:

Attention beauty buffs: there is a new nail salon in town. Color Camp just opened their first location in West Hollywood and they are having a launch party this Saturday to celebrate. But it’s not your average mani-pedi pit stop.  What makes them different? They only do manicures. But boy do they do them right. I admire a company that is laser focused on one product or service and can’t wait to see if the real deal lives up to the hype.

Speaking of hype, an Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power is showing at limited theatres this weekend.

I just ordered this custom star map from The Night Sky. Total Instagram impulse buy and I haven’t received it yet but I’m super excited and of course will share an update on my findings asap.

You know we still have a lot of work to when Ian Ziering is getting paid almost two times as much for Sharknado 5 (yes, 5)  as Gal Gadot did for Wonder Woman. Say again? Yes, it’s true. I’m trying to steer clear of “you know what grinds my gears” type rants but … for real?!

Nothing says summer like a drive-in movie and My Valley Pass is bringing it back old school with some classic filmed-in-the-Valley favorites such as, E.T. and Back to the Future. Make your own popcorn, crack open some La Croix, and you’re in for a wild Saturday night at the movies. AC cranked, of course.

I’ve been obsessed with this new-to-me show on Netflix called Cable Girls. If you love Greys Anatomy, period dramas, and reading while you watch (ahem, subtitles) then this show will be your jam.

Stay cool my babies and have a lovely weekend.
