In an ideal world, we would stay up late having fun and be able to get up the next morning refreshed and ready to take on the world. We would indulge without consequence. Alas, life is unfair. But what if being responsible and indulgent could come together to create the perfect balance? That is what I’ve found in this recipe. Maybe I’m being a tad over dramatic but that is how seriously I take my sleep. I prepare this recipe the night before which saves me, even more, time in the morning and I don’t get hangry mid-morning. It’s the best overnight oatmeal recipe I’ve tried. Plus it’s saved me so much time and contributed greatly to my lazy AM routine.
The Best Overnight Oatmeal Recipe Ingredients:
1/2 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup milk (any kind – I used almond)
1/2 a banana
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. peanut butter
1 tsp. honey
Combine oatmeal and milk in an airtight jar or container (mason jars work great for this, especially if you’re on the go). Slice half of one banana and layer on top of the oatmeal. Add cinnamon, peanut butter, and honey on top. Add chia seeds and cacao nibs last if you’re using them. Refrigerate overnight (or for at least 3-4 hours). Mix well before eating and enjoy!
Optional: chia seeds and cacao nibs sprinkled on top
How do you cut down on prep time in the morning? Any shortcuts I could adopt?
